About DEAP

 

DEAP is a private not for profit corporation that provides a variety of family education and support, residential, and crisis intervention services to families whose children are birth to 18 years of age and adults.  Services are provided in 17 eastern Montana counties.  The main office is located in Miles City with satellite offices in Glendive, Lame Deer, Colstrip, and Billings.

Mission and Values

The mission of DEAP is to provide community-based services which support individuals and families to strengthen their skills and abilities and to enhance care and quality of life.

 

We strive to meet this mission by:

  • Providing a variety of people centered prevention, early intervention, education, support and residential services to:

  • Families whose children have developmental disabilities/delays and adults with developmental disabilities

  • Families whose children are at risk for abuse and neglect

  • Families whose children need childcare and providers of childcare

  • Women, Infants, and Children with nutritional and dietary needs

  • Providing support and assistance in making decisions and creating a variety of individualized, flexible choices for individuals/families that are responsive to identified needs of the individual/family

  • Assisting people in developing and maintaining skills and abilities to utilize resources in order to keep their children in the home and the community.

  • Providing positive and proactive interactions with individuals/families that support change through coordination, education and advocacy

  • Offering support utilizing individual/family strengths and resources

  • Supporting individuals and families to help DEAP meet the mission in ways they choose

  • Accepting individual/family choices and priorities

  • Promoting and providing services when, where, and how individuals/families want and need them

  • Assisting people to exercise their rights responsibly

  • Strengthening individual/family functioning by promoting decision-making, capabilities and competencies that increase independence and community integration

  • Establishing positive, honest, person centered relationships based on mutual respect

  • Coordinating and collaborating with other services

  • Providing optimal services while promoting individual, programmatic and fiscal responsibility and accountability

 

Cost of services

Those receiving services enter into a partnership agreement with DEAP and other service providers in sharing resources to fund the services needed.  DEAP will help locate funding sources for services for eligible individuals in these counties unless Medicaid or family insurance can be billed.  Individuals and parents are encouraged to contribute their resources, skills, and time in collaboration with service providers to effectively meet their needs and further the mission.
