WIC
WIC is a special health and nutrition care program for women, infants, and children. The program’s aim is to provide nutrition information and the right kind of foods needed during pregnancy and early childhood to prevent diseases, encourage normal growth and development, provides breastfeeding information and support, and help ensure that healthy babies are born to mothers participating in WIC.
Who is Eligible? Pregnant or postpartum women through 6 months after delivery and up to 12 months after delivery while breastfeeding that meet the income guidelines are eligible.
Infants and Children through five years of age that meet the income guidelines are eligible.

How to make referral or access services?
DEAP provides services in the following counties: Custer, Powder River, Fallon, Rosebud, Treasure, Big Horn, and Carter. The contact individual for WIC services at DEAP is:
Anyone who is interested in WIC services can be provided a flier about services. They can enroll for WIC by calling or coming into the office to make an appointment.
What services are provided?
Education: WIC provides valuable nutrition and health information to help all types of families learn to make healthy lifelong nutrition and lifestyle choices. Specialized education and diet planning is provided by a Registered Dietitian. Support is provided for Breastfeeding through education and breast pumps.
Referral: To other health care community resources that may be beneficial to the family.
Food: Specific nutritious supplemental foods are provided that add key nutrients such as protein, Vitamins A and C, iron, and calcium to families diets. If an infant is using formula, that can be provided through WIC.
